Worlds Collide June 2025: WWE and AAA Shake Hands, Then Vikingo and Gable Steal the Afternoon

Worlds Collide opens by explaining the assignment without a PowerPoint. Six luchadores get fourteen minutes, the rules loosen, bodies begin flying, and the Kia Forum immediately understands what kind of afternoon this is going to be.

Mr. Iguana is the crowd magnet, but the match works because the comedy never strangles the wrestling. Aero Star and Dragon Lee supply velocity, Cruz Del Toro gets to remind everyone how much he can actually do, and Octagón Jr. lands the winning fall with the top-rope fallaway slam.

The post-match confrontation with Dominik Mysterio also earns its place because it turns the opener into a same-day bridge to Money in the Bank rather than an isolated exhibition.

The women's tag is the one portion of the show that feels more functional than essential. Vaquer has Money in the Bank later that day, so WWE wisely keeps her workload under control and lets Lola Vice absorb much of the middle.

Dalys and Chik Tormenta give the match enough structure to avoid becoming an extended cameo, while the stereo Devil's Kiss spot provides the crowd reaction everyone is waiting for. The closing run is clean and energetic, but the match never develops the chemistry or urgency of the surrounding card.

It does its job. On this particular show, doing the job is the low bar.

This match benefits from something the opener intentionally avoids: clear sides. Legado are the WWE heels with something to prove, while Wagner, Pagano and Psycho Clown arrive carrying the pride and chaos of AAA.

The loose lucha tag rules create enough motion to keep the fifteen minutes lively, and Wagner comes out of the match looking especially strong. Pagano is less precise, but even his rough edges fit the atmosphere better than they would on a standard WWE card.

Santos Escobar pinning Wagner gives Legado a meaningful win without making the AAA trio look secondary. It is not one of the afternoon's two great matches, but it is much better than filler.

The four-way has one obvious risk: four wrestlers this athletic can turn a match into a GIF factory with no connective tissue. Instead, the pace stays furious while Ethan Page gives the chaos a center. Rey Fénix and Je'Von Evans trade impossible-looking counters, Laredo Kid keeps inserting himself at exactly the right moments, and Page survives by being the one man in the match who understands that championships can also be retained by letting everyone else try to kill one another first.

The final stretch is excellent. Evans appears to have Laredo beaten, Page ejects him, then steals the window with Twisted Grin. The champion wins because he is opportunistic, not because the challengers suddenly become stupid.

On another card, this is the obvious match of the night. Worlds Collide has one more.

Vikingo and Chad Gable spend the opening minutes doing the most important thing possible on a crossover show: they refuse to rush to the fireworks. Gable wrestles. Vikingo wrestles back. The crowd learns that the match has a foundation before either man starts trying to leave gravity behind.

Then the escalation becomes ridiculous in the best way. Vikingo hits a 630 to Gable's back on the floor. Gable attacks the arm and drags the match back toward technique. Vikingo lands a Mexican Destroyer on the apron. Gable answers with a moonsault through a table. Both crawl back before the count reaches ten.

The closing stretch works because the spectacular moves are attached to accumulated damage. Gable's ankle lock matters. His injured arm matters. Vikingo's leg appears compromised late, yet he still finds the poison rana, the corner attack and the final 630.

The champion retaining is the right ending to the first major WWE-AAA showcase. More importantly, the match makes both promotions look better than they did twenty-two minutes earlier.
