Elimination Chamber 2013: The Shield Rises and WrestleMania 29 Takes Shape

Alberto Del Rio and Big Show open the pay-per-view with another World Heavyweight Championship match after their pair of Last Man Standing bouts. Show uses size to keep Del Rio from establishing a rhythm, while the champion repeatedly attacks the arm and looks for transitions into the Cross Armbreaker. The familiarity of the rivalry lowers the novelty, but the match remains competitive and gives Del Rio a credible physical obstacle. Late in the bout, Show grabs Ricardo Rodriguez's bucket and appears ready to use it. Del Rio kicks the bucket into Show's head and immediately capitalizes. He locks in the Cross Armbreaker and forces the submission, giving the champion a decisive retention before moving toward WrestleMania.

Antonio Cesaro and The Miz continue their United States Championship program in a match built around Miz's injured shoulder and the champion's willingness to exploit it. Cesaro repeatedly attacks the weakened area and prevents Miz from sustaining a comeback, while Miz tries to create quick openings without exposing the injury for too long. The match is competent until the finish introduces unnecessary confusion. Cesaro knocks Miz's leg during an exchange, causing Miz to fall knee-first into Cesaro's groin. The referee interprets the contact as a low blow and calls for a disqualification. Cesaro retains the title, and Miz intentionally kicks him low afterward. The ending extends the feud but leaves the championship match without a satisfying competitive conclusion.

The Elimination Chamber match is the card's strongest stipulation bout, using six established wrestlers and a clear WrestleMania reward to maintain urgency for more than thirty minutes. Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho start with technical exchanges before Swagger, Kane, Randy Orton and Mark Henry enter in sequence. Henry becomes the dominant physical threat, eliminating Bryan and Kane before the remaining wrestlers combine to remove him. Orton later eliminates Jericho and appears positioned to take the final spot at WrestleMania. Swagger immediately catches Orton in a roll-up and scores the decisive pin. The winner is surprising and the finish is abrupt, but the match itself is well paced, varied and built around meaningful eliminations.

The Shield's six-man victory over John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus is one of the event's most important matches because the newcomers beat three protected stars without the result feeling accidental. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns constantly use numbers and positioning to turn individual mismatches into short advantages, while the babyface team relies on explosive hot tags and power. Reigns creates the biggest momentum swings, including a Spear through the barricade on Sheamus. Ryback later appears ready to finish Rollins with Shell Shocked. Reigns intercepts him with another Spear, and Rollins falls into the cover for the pin. The finish keeps Cena occupied and gives The Shield another major win while preserving the faction's core identity as the better coordinated unit.

Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston are added without advance billing and work a short match that feels more like a television sprint than a major pay-per-view attraction. Kingston immediately uses speed to create danger and lands Trouble in Paradise for a near-fall, but Big E Langston pulls Ziggler to safety before the cover can end the match. That interference establishes the advantage without stretching the bout beyond its limited purpose. Ziggler recovers after Kingston is sent into the ring post and quickly lands the Zig-Zag. The pin gives the Money in the Bank holder a needed victory. Big E then returns to attack Kingston with the Big Ending, reinforcing the alliance more than the match itself advances anything.

Kaitlyn's Divas Championship defense against Tamina Snuka receives only a few minutes and never has enough time to become a substantial title match. Tamina uses power to control most of the brief action, while Kaitlyn looks for a sudden opening around the Spear rather than building a longer comeback. The challenger climbs for the Superfly Splash and appears positioned to end the match decisively. Tamina misses the landing, giving Kaitlyn the opening she needs. The champion immediately connects with the Spear and scores the pin. The clean finish protects Kaitlyn's reign, but the short runtime and minimal story make the championship feel secondary on a card dominated by WrestleMania positioning.

The Rock and CM Punk close the show with a WWE Championship rematch designed to lock the WrestleMania 29 main event into place. Punk wrestles with the added advantage that a Rock countout or disqualification would return the title to him, which gives every referee disruption extra importance. The match becomes increasingly chaotic as one referee is knocked down and a second referee is later injured. Punk lands the Go to Sleep with no referee available for the count and later nearly capitalizes with the title belt. Rock avoids the belt shot, which hits Paul Heyman instead. A second Rock Bottom then gives Rock the pin and secures the WWE Championship match against John Cena at WrestleMania.
